This is kind of random but as I was reading this I was thinking: Chiron was the first centaur. Is that right? If so, it’s just interesting to me to think of all the other centaurs as being his descendants, and none of them (that I know of) following in his footsteps or studying with him in his cave…
Yes! The same idea occurred to me but when I looked up the genealogy (for what it’s worth), it appears that Chiron isn’t a part of the same lineage as the other centaurs - and I believe his wife was a nymph so who knows what species of children they had.
Well considering the variety in the details of his story depending on the source, I wouldn’t say anything is definitive! Even the genealogy of the Olympians is different from source to source, but I get the sense that Chiron was kind of a different breed of centaur than the others.
